Studio Guidelines

Policy

Please review the following policies before beginning lessons. These guidelines help ensure a positive, consistent experience for all students.

Lesson Scheduling

Excluding the Summer Semester, there are three (3) semesters per year: • Fall Semester: September–November • Winter Semester: December–February • Spring Semester: March–May During the Summer Semester, tuition may be paid on a monthly basis.

Your lesson time is reserved exclusively for you. Please be ready for your piano lesson at the scheduled start time.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling requests. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged in full.

In the event of illness or emergency, please contact me as soon as possible. I will do my best to accommodate rescheduling when given reasonable notice.

I reserve the right to cancel lessons due to illness or emergency. In such cases, a makeup lesson will be offered at no additional charge.

Payment

Tuition for lessons is billed by semester and is due in full at the beginning of each semester.

Accepted payment methods include e-transfer, check, and cash. Please confirm your preferred method at the start of lessons.

Lessons missed without proper notice will be charged at the full lesson rate and are not eligible for makeup sessions.

Practice & Lesson Expectations

Regular practice between lessons is essential for student progress. Students are expected to practice the assigned material before each lesson. Piano lessons are held once a week. Each lesson includes instruction in music theory and reading music, with concepts introduced progressively as the student advances. Lessons also focus on proper piano technique, including correct finger, hand, wrist, arm, and body positioning for each passage of music. Because proper technique is essential to developing good playing habits, I sit beside the student during the lesson to provide hands-on guidance and ensure correct positioning.

A minimum of 20–30 minutes of daily practice is recommended for beginners. More advanced students may require longer practice sessions.

Equipment Requirements

Students must have access to a piano or full-size keyboard (minimum 61 keys with touch sensitivity) at home for practice between lessons.

All lesson materials, including books and sheet music, will be recommended by the teacher and are the responsibility of the student to obtain.

These policies are in place to ensure a respectful, productive, and enjoyable learning environment for all students. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
